WOOD 2020 has been postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19. New dates to be announced.
WOOD 2020 is the first edition of Elemental Trilogy that examines our human relationship to natural resource in a precarious world faced with climate change. It is presented by OH! Open House, a non-profit that presents site-specific art responding to the history, memory and stories of different neighbourhoods.
Rugged freight trucks and vast factory spaces occupy the Sungei Kadut landscape, a stark contrast to the clean and green Singapore familiar to us.
Sungei Kadut is one of Singapore's oldest industrial estates. Sawmills were moved here in the 1970s to ease traffic, noise and pollution in the city centre at a time when timber was one of Singapore's largest exports.
Today, the estate masks the grit of the timber industry from the rest of the island. It has also been slated for redevelopment due to the decline of the timber industry.
